Lunch - Living with a disability

The lunch period shows students how difficult it is to live with a disability. They are given oven mitts to simulate loss of feeling in their hands (it's hard to remove saran wrap when you can't feel it). Thick, refractive safety glasses impair their vision and depth perception, while other teens are blindfolded alltogether. Most wear bibs to protect their clothes. Neck braces are used to simulate paralysis. Being disabled also means having to rely on others for everyday tasks such as bathing, bodily functions and feeding.
